Revitalized: DEC 8 – DEC 13 2020 at Studio Barnes/Seattle.

These ten tracks were originally recorded between NOV 2015 – JAN 2016 1996. Taking a week for each song. For the next 16 months I searched for a vocalist in Seattle and in Chicago. Having had enough with waiting for someone — whether due to the lack of creative alliance or collaborative commitment — I decided to do them myself. Keep in mind, at that point I haven’t sang anything in over 10 years.

In August 2017, I took a week to finalize each track’s lyrics and slowly began to build my voice and record as I went. It was brutal. I do not care for the sounds of my voice. Having to wear the Producer’s hat, perform alone and engineer meant “changing gears” over, and over, and over again. Those 10 weeks left me fatigued. I had recorded the vocals against the previously mixed background tracks and released MUSIC FOR BIG CITIES | ALBUM in October. Unfortunately, the original multi-tracked files were in Illinois.

Fast forward to DEC 2020…
Last summer (2019) I got the multi-tracks and sat on them, as I was working on A DANGEROUS MAN album with Heinz Schuller on drums in Oak Park. When I returned to Seattle I wound up working on my electronic project POP-LUST. Along the way — five POP-LUST albums — i figured I needed to remix MUSIC FOR BIG CITIES.

Here is the result. There are some changes to some of the arrangements and an added solo (WHAT YOU’RE SAYING). MFBC has a new track sequence and flows better. The vocal production includes much distortion. It is not meant to be silky or pristine. It’s edgy.
