These ten tracks were originally recorded in 1996 under the GIFTHORSE/VOICE moniker/title. I handmade a run of 10 cds with a booklet & stickers and then schlepped them to local Seattle indie video & film houses looking for soundtrack work.

Each of the instrumentals indeed have their own ‘voice’ and collectively evoke a spirit of tension, melancholy and a sense of purposeful, forward movement. Especially the opener “BRILLIANCE.”

“BRILLIANCE” sets the tone with a lone acoustic guitar then gracefully fleshes out an aural landscape as the arrangement builds. Many of the songs utilize two bass guitars, providing both a low-end pulse and additional melodic contrast to the other guitar layers.

HOW MANY LICKS… is perfect for driving, fucking or lazying/working around the house.
